Moving From Ottawa to Toronto
1st Rate Movers schedules weekly trips to the greater Toronto area.
These can include deliveries to Brockville, Kingston, Belleville, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering
and other towns along the 401 corridor to Toronto.
These trips are usually consolidated
moves (2 or 3 deliveries on the same truck) and are completed over a two-day
period. The moving crews will load all deliveries destined for
the GTA the first day. They would then depart for Toronto,
arriving that night. Accommodations will be made for
the movers not far from their first delivery point in
Toronto. They would then begin unloading their first
delivery early the next morning. All deliveries are
normally off the moving truck by mid to late-afternoon
depending on the various destination points.
The benfit of joining a consolidated move is that you
are afforded the opportunity to share the most expensive
part of your move. That is the travel charge. Even the
average three-bdrm house will only take professional
movers around 8 hours (approx. $950) of actual labour.
The largest portion of the cost would be the travel
time that the moving company must charge the customer
for. For an average trip to Toronto, this would be around
$1100 to cover approximately 10 hours of driving, fuel,
and the cost of food and lodging for the crew.
For a smaller move such as a 1-bdrm apartment, where
the labour cost would only be around $360, the travel
charge is even more noticeable. By consolidating a smaller
move with one or more other small moves with similar
destinations, the travel time can be greatly reduced.
On it's own a 1 berdroom apartment could cost $1500 but this
could be reduced to as low as $800 or so through consolidation.
